Also, if you have “r”s, “n”s, and/or “m”s next to each other in your name, a cursive-esque font is probably not want you want to go for. “Orna” or “Onra” or “Oma” should keep that in mind while doing her 30 second search on a stock image site for “boy on beach.”

The traditional color for boy is blue and for sea is wine-dark.

I actually kinda like the way the kid is drawn. It’s simple but I like it. If the rest of the cover were drawn with similar lines, AND the author had picked a more appropriate font, it would’ve been fine.

The mixing of cartoon figures with photographed backgrounds (or cartoon backgrounds with photographed figures) seldom works. One style usually works best.
