It is a scientific curiosity how water in its liquid state is not capable of showing actual reflections of actual objects. I therefore nominate this cover for a Nobel Prize award.

What I’m curious about is the barely decipherable award on top. Skull + lips = kiss of death?!?
Don’t forget the rose. Lips kissing a skull would just be weird, but lips and a skull with a rose between them makes perfect sense!
Though, given that Daphne du Maurier is actually a pretty good writer, I wonder if that means that this book is better than it looks or if Ms. du Maurier is spinning in her grave at what’s being endorsed in her name.

I am thinking of the board feet of lumber a saw mill could make of just one of those trees.
