So Number 44 has to hit the woman with the ball before she draws her sword out?
This cover looks like it was two different covers that accidentally collided.

I know, I know, Mr. Evener, if we’d only read the book, we’d understand that it makes perfect sense for there to be a girl with a basketball trying to make a shot at the back of another lady who’s drawing a what looks like a paint stir stick out of a scabbard in an Escher-like meld of two stone rooms…
Actually, scratch that. I’m pretty sure this doesn’t work even if you DO know what’s going on.
You forgot the “…girl with a basketball, in a castle, trying to make a shot at the back of another lady’s” head aspect. Don’t forget the Castle, ZsuZsa. It’s obviously, like, WAAAAAY important.
It is obvious to me that this is about a girl who daydreams of being Zena, Warrior Princess, while playing basketball.

This brings me way back to Sesame Street:
One of these things is not like the others
One of these things just doesn’t belong

That’s a better cut-and-paste job than some I’ve seen, but yes, the cut-and-paste is still way too obvious. Gotta admit, though, the situation depicted is kinda intriguing in a dude-what-were-you-thinking sort of way: the girl’s going to hit the warrior woman on the back of her head with a basketball? What’s that going to accomplish? (For knocking somebody out, a basketball does not make a very effective weapon.)

Seems like the creative failure happened long before the cover phase.

I never knew Queen Latifah was into cosplaying at the local Renaissance Faire. Too bad the Faire had to move indoors due to inclement weather. Hard to share the community center with girls basketball team.
Come on, people. During the championship game in the gymnasium which also serves as the school’s theater, someone accidentally started the film about how to cosplay on a budget.
