Why does the word “Joyce” randomly appear on the page in a totally different font and style, like it was put there for a different cover which then got reused for this cover?

Chris Costello’s design goal for Papyrus font was to capture the look of a written text done 2,000 years ago in ink on papyrus. Since its 1983 release the font has been hideously misused. This is simply not the font for 19th century Old West Mail Order Brides. Or for most other covers using it that show up here.
Thought I’d search out genuinely reasonable uses of Papyrus.
How about this? National Geographic know what they’re doing. http://www.kaywinters.com/cover1aa.jpg
If there’s a tag for Photobombing Font, I nominate “Joyce”.
When in doubt, add more fonts.

How do we know it’s Book 3? Hmmm, omitted from the poor, sparsely-decorated cover, poor thing.
