What is that brown thing behind the ghost claws? Is it supposed to be an alien arm or a skinny leg?

Unsquish the hand and apple to normal proportions, that limb is a person’s upper arm (the forearm is directly behind the hand).
I think we are supposed to be tempted by the Big Apple nightscape. We would be if it were not for the grotesque squished apple, hand, arm, with title and author illegible at thumbnail and typical internet ad sizes.
