This actually sounds interesting but yeah, the cover probably wouldn’t inspire me to pick it up. The award really ruins it, I think.

The cover is unnecessarily cluttered and simpler would be more effective.
While the usual self-pub book awards tend to prod the cynic and skeptic in me, this one (from Writer’s Digest) does seem to be legit.
Wikipedia: “Polly Letofsky … First woman to walk around the world. In 1999, Polly began her 5-year trek around the world, raising awareness for breast cancer by partnering with the Lion’s Club.”
I suspect the book moves at a pedestrian pace, but it may be rewarding to a patient reader.
The Writer’s Digest award is absolutely legit, and while I agree that the cover is busy-busy-busy, seeing that award would incline me to try a book that I’d alternatively pass up. The WD award winners typically are pretty damned good. FWIW.
