From the little gaps at the bottom corners, looks like the creator of this cover already rotated the photo in an attempt to straighten the horizon … they just didn’t quite get there. Another 1.5° clockwise, ’shopping in a more dynamic sky, and punchier type is all it would take to save this.
Maybe so, but at least we’re not fragile little people who make disparaging personal comments about those who actually give constructive criticism, like dtw did. Come back when you’re not so pathetic.
Well, at least there IS gingerbread there. It’s a Queen Anne style house and all those curly bits in the peaks and porch corners are gingerbread. However, the house isn’t a focal point on this, so small there, the gingerbread-ness is lost. Nice mock-up, dtw!

That house is a stock photo on Pixabay (spl?) and can be found used in ads, book covers, etc. Usually used better than this cover.
I have to join the chorus: great example of what could be dtw.

15-minute mock-up (not bothering to go looking for non-system fonts or tidy up the sky masking properly):
Not perfect by any means, but …
That’s delightful! What a difference!
Agreed, lovely work!
Nice.
Really, is this all you got to do in life is complain about this. How petty. You must be a bunch of losers.

You’re right, I apologize.

So much (boring) sky.
