The sad part is that is perfect concept art and would be great in the hands of a skilled artist because I love the concept of this cover

OK, I’ll bite, Ian–what concept? I see a noggin, but…is that supposed to be a skull, inside a scrunched spacesuit helmet? I swear, I could not make heads or tails of it. I had to sit here and stare at it for at least a few minutes to figure it out.

Sheesh.

I said it was a concept not final product. I’m assuming sci-fi/horror on mars.

but it does need more work.

“Nice rough. When can we see the final? … Oh. You’ve already hit ‘publish’? *moan*”

Without self-publishing or indie small press, there would be less Lousy Book Covers.

Sigh. ♪ ♫ When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn? ♪ ♫

It’s almost like some want their covers here.

@Naaman: maybe they do. Maybe there’s a contest out there, and we have simply missed it? Surely, we’d know about it, right?

It’s weird how the cover actually improves if you remove the graphic. It would still be dull, but it would at least evoke ‘Mars’.
