Whales tails don’t do that. Straighten it out. And three fancy fonts are overkill. Can’t read the subtitle. Make the author’s name and the subtitle something simpler.

Somewhere underwater there’s a fish’s or whale’s or maybe a (widowed?) mermaid’s voice yelling “OW!!! I dislocated my %^&*# tail!!”

Fish tails don’t bend that way.

None of the elements here make sense. What do Widows have to do with fish tails (or mermaids?) and there’s not a black heart in sight!

There are aspects of the art and overall style I like but then there’s so much failing going on. Bleh.

I started out thinking that the fonts were overkill but the image wasn’t too bad…then my eyes got to the claw-tail. I can see a claw-tail like that taking out some fishermen, maybe that’s where the widow comes into the story.

I thought it my be a reference to the widows of fishermen and sailors lost at sea, but then I looked at the book blurb and discovered that it looks like a YA novel on a modern day island with magic.
