Who wants to bet the picture was authorized for private use only when the author took it, and now the cosplayer’s lawyers have caught up with him?
Sheesh, he couldn’t even be bothered to edit out the background and put something else, such as a police station, behind the guy. It might not have saved the cover, but at least having some appropriate scenery behind the guy would have made the author look less lazy and the zombie cop cosplayer look like he was actually a part of the story.
Agreed. With a little bit of effort, Mr. Lynch might’ve gotten away with it.

Is that cosplayer even supposed to be a sheriff? That looks like it might be a California Highway Patrol uniform.

Maybe part of the plot here is to have the zombie sheriff mistaken for a cosplayer at a convention. Probably not.
The problem with a lot of covers is that the artist assumes that if a uniform is good enough to pass muster for the Halloween costume rack at the party/novelty store, it is good enough for a cover model. Not really, and regulation uniform is details. Maybe close is good enough for fiction about a zombie sheriff. What burns badly is when it is a non-fiction or historic book cover.
Maybe low enough to catch Amazon’s attention. The link is dead and a search under that author’s name shows no books.
The book is gone and the link is dead — so this is a zombie Lousy Cover?
This country…

WTF? Ewwwww.
Having the title over the main character’s face is a nice touch.
