As I’ve said many times before, this sort of thing drives me crazier than anything else: a cover that almost makes it, but is sabotaged at the last moment.
Nice art completely ruined by ham-fisted typography and no sense of design whatsoever.
Dang those are some horrible fonts. The clueless kerning of the A’s in the title and the absolute illegibility of the letter-that-might-be-an-R in the author name are both presumably built in to the fonts, so the cover-creator’s only crime was in not seeing that horribleness and choosing other fonts.
I’m hoping that both fonts were created by the same person; I’d hate to think that there’s more than one person in the world with access to font-design tools who’s so utterly incompetent at font design.

Not to mention that I’m not entirely sure that the artwork is legally used. That’s one of the most stolen and reposted angel images on Google — everyone and their brother uses it for everything from icons to wallpapers to YouTube videos. Looks like someone did a google search for “archangel” and picked the most badass one of the lot.
I can’t even seem to find the name of the original artist anywhere, and I’m usually really good at that. If I can’t find it, I doubt that whoever did this hamfisted cover did and obtained legal permission to use it.
Wow. I was having doubts about the legal use of this image, since it is so tasteful, for once. Because seriously? If you have an artist that good working for you, no way you mess up the fonts that badly…

But it’s written by Sure M Fart!
I’m glad I’m not the only person who read it that way the first time.
Bwahahahaaa!!!
Ditto.

Better view of it here, without the crappy color filter on it: http://www.mrwallpaper.com/wallpapers/Archangel-Art-Draw-851×315.jpg

I like the original much better and now I can see Mr. Fart screwed up the image as well as the text.
Yup.
Agreed. Too bad the artist can’t be notified.
Here is the original ^^

The kerning between the H and the A is physically painful.

An artistic tragedy on so many levels. 🙁
I know a guy who knows the artist (Toby Lewin) and mentioned it to him. He’ll let Toby know.
Toby Lewin is the Artist.
