Based on the title’s reference to a forum, I’m going to give it some benefit of the doubt and say it’s a deliberate choice of an 8-bit style font to look “computery”.
What that has to do with a gas mask and biohazard symbols (which look like spiders walking on his eyes — gack!) is anybody’s guess.
