Did those nagilum eyes burn a hole right through that butterfly’s wing? A nice, round hole? Shhheeeshz.

Readability. White letters with white background? At certain sizes on certain monitors/devices author Starks appears as Stark. Not an auspicious debut.
Layering transparent images is easy in graphic software. Getting them to seperate into Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black printing plates that do not end up muddy on paper drives some printers crazy. Actually, looking at this on different devices at different sizes, the face and butterfly can be hard to see. Too subtle for internet sales.
(Maybe just me. I would never dare to use the image of a girl’s face covered with a butterfly for a murder mystery because it would immediately provoke comparison to a certain iconic book/movie, yeah it was a moth but still).
SOB, he does it to me too! Actually, the commenting system is like certain a balloon and Wizard of Oz: “I don’t know how it works!”

So you put the only color at the edges of your cover? It’s like you are urging anyone browsing online to please look at the covers above and below this one.
So how many layers of photos/artwork are there? Face, Butterfly, Tree-filled Canyon, Grassy Riverbank, Slightly Pink Smear in center, Gray Lines running down her cheek,…
Nagilum!

🙂
Crap, Nathan–that’ll teach me to copy-paste. Can you please fix that apostrophe in its? Thanks.
Nope. I’m gonna let your punctuation error stand for ALL TIME.
