I agree! It’s a cool painting. But the cartoon cat silhouettes, the unimaginative fonts, bright colors, and the harsh lines completely destroy the mood. Ick.

It would be better if the art wasn’t duplicated like that in the title as well.

Yeah, start with getting rid of the extraneous animals. Cats should not be added as an afterthought to justify the title. A better font and no annoying purple lines are the second step. Like Nathan and Kris said, nice art, but I dont like the way the cover is executed.
I thought this going to be a sequel to the musical . . .

The double-cat silhouette isn’t bad as a logo, down there at the bottom. I’m guessing it’s the logo for the series. The painting is pretty good.
It’s SO close to being a decent cover. Lose the large cats. Make the top a solid band to match the bottom. Preferably a bit deeper than it is now, which would give the title text more breathing room and bring the eyeline of the painting a little further down. Maybe make the bottom band a bit narrower — the information is floating around a bit. And you’d have something quite reasonable.

The art’s gorgeous. But why does part of it repeat at the top behind the title? Shameful waste of lovely art.
