Looking at it on my computer’s screen, it appears to me that a chunk of the bear’s head has been filled in with the black and grey of the background pattern.
If I cared, I could download the image and run it through graphic workshop filters (RGB level, contrast&brightness, enhance edges, etc) and confirm my suspicion.

It looks like that to me, too, except the pattern isn’t there in that space. It’s just black.
