…I’m pretty sure the boy is Zac Efron.

We’ve actually had this one before at https://lousybookcovers.com/?p=11336#comment-area. Clearly, it’s SO lousy that one feature just isn’t enough :P.

Yeah. Of course, the comments section there is closed now, so it’s good to have it opened up again here.

Also, this is not the first time we’ve had anything by Tanya Allan.

Eh. Same criticized cover two years later deserves a double roast.

There are indie press self-pub authors who routinely update their covers because they find better, fresher covers improve sales …

There’s nothing gentle about that swirl.

The gentler cycle of the Swirlpool washer turns A-shirts and briefs into camisoles and panties.

The Swirlpool dryer, however, has numerous complaints that it sends every third sock to the far side of the Moon.

We’ve previously mentioned that annoying phenomenon where at first a book cover looks acceptable. But as one scrolls down it gets progressively worse. I don’t think we ever came up for a word for that, but if we did, we would have to come up with some kind of hyphenated version of that word. Maybe add a prefix like mega-ultra.

But that wouldn’t really work. Because in that case one starts off thinking it’s good and it gets bad. Here we have a cover that Immediately sends off warning bells.

On the instant of spying those first words of the title, “The Hard Way,” one knows that this is an ugly book cover. Then, when presented with just the top of the horrifying cut and paste job,a person of normal taste and sensibilities can be expected to assumes this cover is lousy.

And that was my expectation until I scrolled down. Oh, the horror! The horror!

On a sidenote:

Nathan,
If you do manage to find a way off this planet, please consider informing me. I will make it worth your time.

So… if you stir a Zac Efron with a spoon he goes all swirly and transforms into a blonde girl?
