Well, loosely (very) it means, under the dark…crack? Crevasse, maybe?

This wouldn’t be half bad if the skull didn’t look like it’s floating in mid-air (and the light source is suspicious). I like the background and the font. Having the font touching the edges gives a claustrophobic feel to the cover, which in this case is a plus.
Now that I look at it again, I think the skull could’ve been posed and illuminated to look even creepier. If the empty sockets were looking at the reader, for example.
Ooh. I like that idea. Tone down the entire cover and put eye-like shadows in the sockets. It’s not usual I think a cover needs to be darker, but this one does.

Its creepy all right. Hard to look at for long, though.
