What the heck is up with that partial “O”? Photoshopping gone horribly wrong? What am I saying, this entire cover is Photoshop gone horribly wrong.

Layering used to be such a problem with printing images (color seperating cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink elements) you did not see much of it in print. Ah, the good old days. It is now so easy to do in electronic format, people do it without thinking, or looking, apparently. And some complain if a POD service has trouble printing their covers. I feel like the sculptor in HG Wells’ “Things to Come” (the movie) bemoaning all this headlong “pro-gress”.

There is actually a note about the cover art in the Look Inside! sample. Apparently “the watercolor and photo collage was inspired by the iconic photograph known as ‘the lady in red'” referring to an image from protests in Turkey in 2013. If you know your cover image is confusing enough that you have to explain it, that’s probably a good reason not to use it.
The back cover blurb starts with “WARNING: What to Wear to The Revolution is feminist science fiction”. “WARNING”? She might as well have just started with ‘GENERAL READERS: F*** OFF’.
I’m confused about the two titles. Does the Yellow Woods refer to a previous book or something? Also, is the “Copyrighted Material” at the bottom supposed to be part of the actual cover, or did someone put that ont here for this website usage?

The “Copyrighted Material” notice is something that Amazon’s system places on all print book covers (though not on ebooks, for some reason).
