Born to Fly

Actually, I’m only posting the cover as an excuse to post the sales copy:

This Book wrote by David Estrada, it’s a fiction book in which he talks about his life using a main character named David as well. The story begins when David was born in hospital on December 4TH 1997. Since he was a little boy he goes through a lot of bad experiences such as the one in which his mom and dad divorced, and when his girlfriend broke his heart. However, he goes out there and give it all just trying to make his dreams become a reality. Go and find out how David becomes a millionaire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m sure this is fiction and not a thinly veiled memoir of some guy’s boring life.

Now I have “Born to Fly” running through my head to the tune of “Born to be Wild”.

Let me guess. The main character’s life is uber awesome after his best-selling novel turns him into a millionaire.

The Look Inside! shows the first five chapters have titles but the next are just numbered.

I don’t think he made his million in book design/layout.

There are no words. Or, rather, there are 97 words and 21 exclamation points, and all of them are awful.

Actually, the cover looks like David becomes Davy becomes Daff become Daffodil. Between the eye shadow, the blush and the lip gloss, David’s looking like he’s heading into Bruce/Katlyn (?–sorry, I genuinely don’t know the name she took) territory.

Not to mention–I hate to break it to Daffodil–there are exceedingly few persons alive who are interesting enough at 19 to warrant a thinly-veiled autobiography. AND, you’d think that if Daffs there became a millionaire, s/he would be able to hire a professional designer, wouldn’tja? Or, at LEAST a professional photog?

Well, this cover design is bad enough to end up at LBC, but the photo credits say imagery used from Thinkstock. I suspect that the original color and granularity have been distorted. Not a million dollar design effort.
