That is not a green pig.

Maybe Pinky is green because he drives a Prius and installed solar panels over his pen?

Maybe Pinky is green with envy because the hog in the next pen just got a brand new bright red ‘Vette convertible and an infinity mud pool, and Pinky is stuck with four more years of payments on a green Prius and 20 more years of payments on solar panels.

Please, please, tell me this isn’t a morally righteous story about a vegan &/or vegetarian pig.

Not that there is anything wrong with being vegan &/or vegetarian, or a pig – some of my best friends are vegan. But really – what pig, given an option, isn’t going to be anti-meat?

However, I do maintain that even pigs will agree that there is no better thing on this big, green planet than the smell of bacon in the morning.

Pigs? Anti-meat? Fie on that vile calumny! Pigs are staunch meat lovers. I know two novels and a Criminal Minds episode where pigs disposed of bodies for their keepers. If a lone swineherd has a disabling fall in a sty, the pigs will eat their keeper if he’s immobile long enough.

When I was a kid, the side of the truck that delivered sausage to the general store had a banner of a happy pig, his lower half in a meat grinder, his hoof on the crank, sausage coming out the hole plate, with a big smile on his face. Pigs *heart* meat!

Not quite as bad as a vegan pig. From Amazon:

“Poor Pinky. He started out as a pink pig like he is supposed to be. But then after eating some unusual tasting beans, he became… well… green. Now he has to find out to get back to his normal color again. This is an environmental ebook that helps teach kids about pollution and what we might be able to do about it. Through the help of Pinky, maybe our children can learn to do something about that problem.”

Hallelujah! The world’s pollution problems now solved… by a kiddie book about a green pig!
