A Darker Shade of Sorcery

I don’t know what was originally in his hands, but it definitely wasn’t that sword. (h/t john e. . .)

Oh, that’s supposed to be a sword? I thought he’d just managed to snatch a miniature spaceship out of mid-air.

Yes, I see it now: spaceship with green exhaust trail. Sword? Really?

The sword is bent. Definitely a merge of two images. And why is there a black smudge covering half his face?

That’s no smudge, DED! That is the darker shade mentioned in the title.

It apparently manifests as a giant, two-dimensional charcoal-like thumbprint.

Man, this brings back memories. I think I mentioned somewhere along the line that we had a client that asked us for “a prince with a crown, in a cave, with a scepter, and a dragon, and some other cool stuff, and, OH YEAH, a SABRE TOOTHED TIGER!”

This is definitely that cover’s kissing cousin.

Get rid of everything! Except that horned skull thing at bottom left. Enlarge it and make it the sole image, since in my opinion it is a decent representation of dark sorcery on its own. You could even leave the text as is. I don’t hate it. Just reposition so it doesn’t cover up the skull.
