Another author independently re-releasing his backlist.  Compare to the original, traditionally published cover:

And yet another ridiculously proportioned and stupidly dressed cartoon woman. I am offended.

The original wasn’t great, but it doesn’t piss me off like this one does.

The expression on the cartoon woman’s face indicates that she’s offended, too.

I guess I’ll go low-tech:

Although the original cover does seem to be done by a more competent designer, it is in my opinion equally displeasing to look at.

Jeez. He couldn’t hire a decent cover artist? FAIL!!!

(And I doubt his online backlist will sell many copies… unless he revamps the covers.)

Yes, I like Grendel Briarton style puns in titles, but “Web Site Story” — the songs for a certain musical film keep running through my mind….

“…When you’re a nerd,
you’re a nerd all the way,
from your first URL

When you’re a nerd,
and the spit hits your LAN,
you got buddies around,
you’re a hacker, my man!

You’re never alone,
You’re never disconnected!
You’re online with your own:
When the Feds are expected,
You’re well protected!

Then you’re a Nerd

When you’re a Nerd,
You. stay. a. Nerd!

Just couldn’t resist. What can I say? Mea culpa. Bad covers deserve bad homages…

Honestly, I think the old cover deserves to be on here as well.

I don’t think either cover is any good. In fact, the old one may actually be slightly worse.

The first edition cover sucks, but I’m guessing it was from the ’80s when a lot of things looked like that. I don’t think the new one is awful, but it could be more visually arresting.

There wasn’t such a thing as a website in the ’80s.

The earliest publication date I can find on Goodreads is 2001.
