Loving the Lion

Loving the Lion

After some of the things we’ve seen around here, this looks awfully tame, but… (I’m half-convinced that the byline is a pseudonym that means “LOL! Kidding!”)

Believe it or not, this is a book about a BBW who wants to get it on with a were-lion. Yeah, and you just thought it was about some really-out-there pervert guy who wanted to get it on with an ordinary lion, didn’t you?

No, I thought it was about a GUY that wanted to get it on with another GUY werelion. As both of the characters on that cover are males.

I think it’s supposed to be a ‘before and after’, and the stretched shirtless guy and the lion are the same character. Not that you would guess that when you see the cover for the first time.

Is it just me, or do none of these BBW-themed erotic novellas actually have BBWs on the cover? I mean, wouldn’t that be a selling point?

Before and after: That would be the logical assumption based on knowing what we know. 😀 But… that is a lot of pieces to put together, and by then most people will have placed this in the wrong category for them to keep looking at it. Which is a big old fail for a cover.

Yes, I would think that a lady would be a key selling point on a cover about a m/f romance, but then again I’m a traditionalist.

Ah, but if you don’t show the woman, the reader can imagine herself as the heroine (boinking a lion, as one does). That’s also why so many women on paranormal romance covers are facing away or have their heads cut off, or so I have read. Apparently publishers think women have no imagination or empathy.

Well, I didn’t say she needed a head!
Just a turned lady back with some claw marks! *meow!*

Shave your chest, or don’t. This in-between stage makes me think, “ITCHY!”

BTW – I figured “Stretch” there WAS the lion. But the love interest? No freaking clue.

If you scroll down so that Stretch’s neck is off screen, this cover could qualify for a “Nagilum” tag.

That’s a very small lion. Or the hunk has a freakishly long arm…
