I don’t hate the artwork. I hate the layout, the fonts, that STUPID “reader’s favorite” medallion–which is now on so many books, it has about as much value as the word “the”–and that’s that. It’s too bad. Could have been salvaged with some creative layout.

What is that medallion anyway? Is it some award they give out like candy? Is it a come-on to get the author to buy something? When I publish, should I even bother submitting an entry?

Is she taking a picture of the bird with her phone? Even the bird is like—I’M OUT.

Meaningless vanity awards have proliferated in the indie small press/self-pub world to the point that actual earned award medallions get snickers from the average reader.

Two suns and giants suggest this is something sci fi.
