Giant pixelated, distorted eyeball with bloody tears literally all over it. Beautiful.

Nifty font, too.

I’m half curious as to its name, but not sure I wanna know.

Hint: the period after M. in the byline?
Prompt: what font has capital letters that descend below the lowercase baseline?

Not to mention, grossly overused; we can all thank James Cameron for that mess. Avatar, curse you!

Chris Costello designer of Papyrus is on record that Papyrus has been misused and overused.

The worst fault I see are the poor uppercase-lowercase interletter kerning values for uppercase CEFLTVWYZ and lowercase w/o descenders. Pairs like “Er” or “To” could be tucked better.

At the Press the VideoFonts we used 1969-1987 had built-in leading and trailing bearing for individual letters; for titles and heads where some interletter pairs had huge gaps, our comp system had a backspace tag that could be added in markup. Later font systems like PostScript have automatic kerning values for letter pairs built in the fonts.

I’ll confess that when taking notes with Notepad I will sometimes set my default font to Papyrus. I don’t hate it. Poor little abused font. I pity it, like runt kitten.

I don’t actually hate Papyrus either, but it is, like Comic Sans, grossly overused, showing up on every bloody cover from romances to mysteries to god-only-knows-what. I think it’s a perfectly good font, if it’s used right. BUT, I also agree that it has real kerning issues.
