Widows

I can’t tell if that’s a whale’s tale or a crab’s claw.

Whales tails don’t do that. Straighten it out. And three fancy fonts are overkill. Can’t read the subtitle. Make the author’s name and the subtitle something simpler.

“A Blackbeans Service Norel.” Plain as day.

Somewhere underwater there’s a fish’s or whale’s or maybe a (widowed?) mermaid’s voice yelling “OW!!! I dislocated my %^&*# tail!!”

Fish tails don’t bend that way.

None of the elements here make sense. What do Widows have to do with fish tails (or mermaids?) and there’s not a black heart in sight!

There are aspects of the art and overall style I like but then there’s so much failing going on. Bleh.

I started out thinking that the fonts were overkill but the image wasn’t too bad…then my eyes got to the claw-tail. I can see a claw-tail like that taking out some fishermen, maybe that’s where the widow comes into the story.

I thought it my be a reference to the widows of fishermen and sailors lost at sea, but then I looked at the book blurb and discovered that it looks like a YA novel on a modern day island with magic.
