Alaska Awakening

Alaska Awakening

It seems okay, if a bit underwhelming, until you read the Amazon description:

A luxury Alaskan vacation turns into horror for three couples, who find themselves captives on a remote island in Prince William Sound for a thirty million dollar ransom…

That cover does defy all conventions of crime novels.

I wouldn’t expect kidnapping and ransom drama from that sunset and flowing script font.

Nit pick: The imposition of the mountains on the sunset seascape especially the shoreline could have used more attention to detail.

Darn. I was hoping the horror part would be a hungry sea monster rising from the water to feed on hapless humans. Then I could complain that the cover had no sea monster, what with the Awakening in the title and all.

Nessie is always there, just below the surface. Just like Bigfoot and weeds.

So Nessie shares Bigfoot’s powers of invisibility? I see!

This cover looked bland even for the lame book that I thought it was. The only horror it could make me feel is if I paid for that cover. The horror!

Looks like a travel book that says “Come and visit Alaska” — so what do you mean it is some sort of novel?

Come and visit Alaska …

Travel book fail.
