The image in itself (sans ravens) was good. But what does it have to do with Boudicca? It’s like using the Eiffel Tower to represent Charlemagne. Doesn’t bode well for the historical accurency of the story.
I’m pretty sure there was no artist involved in the making of this cover. 😉

For a minute I thought they were penguins.
Meanwhile I think this falls into quite an unusual category of lousy book cover: Some are sad, some are deranged, many are inept. This one is just idiotic.
I would so much have preferred to see a fabulous illustration of a warrior woman in correct period clothing. There must be some out there. In public domain even.

What would be sad is if the author did know the history of Boudica/Boudicca but the cover artist keyed only from the early date and general locale.
